The invention relates to a lightweight and high-strength ceramsite, a preparation method and application thereof. The preparation method of the lightweight and high-strength ceramsite comprises the following steps of: (1) mixing stone coal sodium salt roasting vanadium extraction tailings with an aluminum-containing auxiliary material to obtain a mixed material; and (2) granulating and roasting the mixed material obtained in the step (1) to obtain the lightweight and high-strength ceramsite. The method takes the stone coal sodium salt roasting vanadium extraction tailings as the raw material,adds wastes such as fly ash, red mud and aluminum ash as auxiliary materials, carries out mixing, pelletizing, drying, roasting, cooling and the other steps, and controls the ratio of the raw materials to the auxiliary materials and roasting process parameters, realizes effective immobilization of alkali metal in the stone coal sodium salt roasting vanadium extraction tailings, prepares the lightweight and high-strength ceramsite with low stacking density, high cylinder pressure strength and low water absorption, and realizes harmlessness and recycling of various industrial waste materials.
