The invention discloses a refractory material and a method for manufacturing a refractory coating layer from the refractory material. The insulating refractory material comprises a first raw materialand a second raw material, wherein the first raw material is prepared from the following substances in parts by weight: 20-30 parts of silicon dioxide gravel, 20-30 parts of silicon dioxide gravel, 10-20 parts of quartz particles, 10-20 parts of silicon dioxide powder, 10-20 parts of an ore raw material flame retardant, and 1-10 parts of glass beads; the second raw material comprises the followingsubstances added to the first raw material in sequence: solvent-free self-extinguishing resin of which the weight is 10-20% of that of the first raw material, solvent-free self-extinguishing hardenedgrease of which the weight is 20-40% of that of the solvent-free self-extinguishing resin, a solvent-free self-extinguishing adhesive of which the weight is 1-10% of that of the solvent-free self-extinguishing hardened grease, and a hot melt resistant coloring agent of which the weight is 0.1-1% of the total weight of the first raw material, the solvent-free self-extinguishing resin, the solvent-free self-extinguishing hardened grease and the solvent-free self-extinguishing adhesive. The refractory material is good in fire resistance, high in strength, low in manufacturing cost and wide in market.
