The invention relates to a rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular column. The rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular column comprises a first long-side steel plate, a second long-side steel plate, a first short-side steel plate and a second short-side steel plate, wherein the first long-side steel plate is parallel to the second long-side steel plate; the first short-side steel plate is parallel to the second short-side steel plate; the width-thickness ratios of the first long-side steel plate, the second long-side steel plate, the first short-side steel plate and the second short-side steel plate are equal respectively; the first long-side steel plate, the first short-side steel plate, the second long-side steel plate and the second short-side steel plate are sequentially connectedend to form a closed-loop rectangular steel tube; and the rectangular steel tube is filled with concrete. When the rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular column is pressed, the first long-side steel plate, the second long-side steel plate, the first short-side steel plate and the second short-side steel plate can be bent simultaneously, so that the utilization rate of materials is increased, the bearing capacity and the ductility are enhanced, and the seismic performance of a component is improved. The invention further relates to a preparation method of the rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular column.
