The invention discloses a porcelain cross arm insulator and a manufacturing method. The formula comprises the following components in parts by weight: 100-120 parts of kaolin, 40-50 parts of industrial alumina, 5-15 parts of feldspar, 5-10 parts of zirconite, 20-25 parts of ozocerite, 12-15 parts of silicone oil and 24-30 parts of vaseline. A filler prepared by mixing zirconite and industrial aluminum oxide is added into the formula, so that the strength of the insulator is enhanced. A hydrophobic anti-fouling agent is prepared by applying silicone oil, ozocerite and Vaseline and carrying outheating and mixing, and pollution flashover and short circuit are avoided. A base material, the filler and mixed slurry are subjected to iron removal through a magnetic separator and a screen, so thatthe insulation capability of the insulator can be improved. Meanwhile, before the hydrophobic anti-fouling agent is applied, the insulator body is cleaned by utilizing alcohol and an ultrasonic cleaning machine, so that the coating effect of the hydrophobic anti-fouling agent is improved.
