The present invention relates to a porous layered ceramic having a first porous layer and a second porous layer in contact with the top of the first porous layer or layered via air, wherein: a portion of the second porous layer is layered to contact the top of the first porous layer; both the first porous layer and the second porous layer contain metal oxides; the ratio Da/Db of an average pore diameter Da of the first porous layer to an average pore diameter Db of the second porous layer is 10 or more; and the proportion of a region, in which the distance between the first porous layer and the second porous layer is less than 1 micron, is 70% or less.
