The invention discloses a self-walking type suspension bridge main cable detection trolley which comprises a beam plate supporting frame, two supporting gears rotationally connected to the two ends of the beam plate supporting frame correspondingly; a driving part fixed to the outer side of the beam plate supporting frame and used for driving one supporting gear to rotate. A transmission toothed belt sleeves the two supporting gears, and the inner side of the transmission toothed belt is meshed with the supporting gears; a plurality of supporting rods are evenly fixed to the outer side of the transmission toothed belt at equal intervals. The walking rubber wheels are fixed to the ends of the supporting rods. A balance weight platform comprises two platform supports which are symmetrically fixed to the two sides of the beam plate supporting frame. The platform support has a counterweight body and a control unit mounting portion. The trolley can walk on the main cable in a barrier-free mode, the problem that a construction hanging basket needs to be erected in traditional suspension bridge main cable detection is solved, operation safety and convenience are improved, and high accuracy and detection item diversity which cannot be achieved through a traditional detection method are achieved in a short-distance and attachment mode.
