The invention discloses a cohesive soil initial dam structure for an upstream type tailing pond. The cohesive soil initial dam structure is characterized in that an initial dam body bottom impermeable layer is laid at the bottom of an initial dam body first, an initial dam upstream seepage drainage arris (1) and an initial dam downstream seepage drainage arris (1') are respectively arranged on the upstream and downstream of an initial dam, an initial dam seepage drainage mattress (2) is laid on the initial dam body bottom impermeable layer, and the lower ends of vertical seepage drainage blind drain pipes (3) communicate with the initial dam seepage drainage mattress (2); an inclined drainage blind drain is pre-buried in the contact position of the initial dam and a mountain, and a transverse blind drain is pre-buried in the contact position of the initial dam and the mountain; and the initial dam is built layer by layer from bottom to top and is compacted layer by layer, and an impermeable slope protection layer (5) is constructed on the upstream slope surface of the initial dam. According to the cohesive soil initial dam structure, the inclined drainage blind drain, the transverse blind drain, the initial dam upstream seepage drainage arris, the initial dam downstream seepage drainage arris, the vertical seepage drainage blind drain pipes and the initial dam seepage drainage mattresses jointly form a combined drainage system, so that the seepage line of the dam body can be effectively reduced.
