The invention discloses a lightweight refractory aggregate prepared from foundry waste sand and a preparation process of the lightweight refractory aggregate, and belongs to the technical field of refractory aggregates. The lightweight refractory aggregate is prepared from the following components by weight: 100 to 110 g of foundry waste sand, 2 to 4 g of rubber powder, 4 to 10 g of silicon dioxide, 3 to 7 g of calcium oxide, 5 to 8 g of bentonite, 5 to 10 g of fly ash, 3 to 8 g of zinc oxide, 26 to 30 g of hard high-alumina clay and 15 to 25 g of potassium-sodium feldspar. According to the lightweight refractory aggregate prepared from the foundry waste sand and the preparation process of the lightweight refractory aggregate, the economic and environment-friendly package of the original foundry industry becomes a profit point of green manufacturing of an enterprise; and in addition, due to the fact that solid waste is adopted as a main raw material, consumption of natural minerals in refractory aggregate production is reduced, and the prepared refractory aggregate can meet performance indexes.
