The invention relates to a multi-stage sliding friction type damper. The multi-stage sliding friction type damper comprises a first end plate mounted on a main body structure, a plurality of clamping plates which are arranged oppositely, a second end plate and a plurality of core plates, wherein friction plates are attached to the clamping plates, one ends of part of the clamping plates symmetrically arranged in the clamping plates are perpendicularly and fixedly connected with the first end plate, and the other clamping plates are connected with the first end plate through a first limiting structure in a distance-adjustable mode; the second end plate is mounted on the main body structure and is opposite to the first end plate; and the core plates are oppositely arranged, and are inserted between the corresponding two adjacent clamping plates, one ends of partial symmetrically-arranged core plates in the core plates are vertically and fixedly connected with the second end plate, and the rest core plates are connected with the second end plate through a second limiting structure in a distance-adjustable mode. First-level friction force and second-level friction force which are generated in sequence are used for different types of earthquakes with different vibration magnitudes and directions.
