The invention relates to a centralized smoke exhaust system for a building. The centralized smoke exhaust system comprises M indoor range hoods arranged in kitchens of residents on different floors, a public flue (2) and a hood air outlet (3). Air outlets of the M indoor range hoods all communicate with the public flue (2) through fireproof valves (4). The system is characterized by further comprising a public flue branch pipe (5) communicating with the public flue (2), an air outlet of the public flue branch pipe (5) communicates with the outside, and a branch pipe fan (51) is arranged in the public flue branch pipe (5); and the system further comprises a compressor (6), a pressure container (7) and a first one-way valve (8), a detection module (9) and a controller are arranged at an air outlet, communicating with the public flue, of each floor, and the controller can judge whether lampblack of all the floors flows backwards or not according to detection signals of the detection modules (9) and count the number of users with lampblack flowing backwards to adjust the power of the compressor. According to the centralized smoke exhaust system for the building, the lampblack backflow of user sides can be effectively avoided.
