The invention discloses a lightweight refractory material prepared from construction waste and a preparation method thereof, the raw materials of the lightweight refractory material comprise a base material and an auxiliary material, the base material comprises 60-80 wt% of construction waste, 5-30 wt% of mineral raw material bauxite, 5-30 wt% of industrial raw material aluminum hydroxide, and 3 wt% of additive aluminum fluoride; and the auxiliary materials comprise 20-40wt% of fly ash hollow beads with different particle sizes and different mass ratios and 5-9wt% of PVA binder. The material prepared by the invention has the advantages of light weight, high strength, good thermal shock resistance, simple preparation process, easily available raw materials, low cost and facilitation of industrialization, fully utilizes building wastes and power plant solid wastes, greatly reduces the use of high-quality mineral raw materials, not only can replace increasingly exhausted kaolin porcelain raw materials, but also the environment protection is promoted, and resources are effectively saved. Therefore, the method has great economic and social values.
