The invention aims to overcome the problems of complex operation, long time consumption and limited early strength effect in preparation of basic magnesium sulfate cement in the prior art. The preparation method of the invention comprises the following steps: firstly, preparing a basic magnesium sulfate cement seed crystal emulsion through wet ball milling; and adding the emulsion containing seed crystals with different particle sizes and mixing amounts into basic magnesium sulfate cement slurry, conducting stirring at a high speed, performing uniform mixing, pouring the obtained mixture into a mold, and conducting curing in air to obtain the quick-setting early-strength basic magnesium sulfate cement. According to the basic magnesium sulfate cement prepared by the invention, setting time can be regulated and controlled through the particle size and the mixing amount of the seed crystals, and the compressive strength of the basic magnesium sulfate cement cured at 15 DEG C for 12 hours can reach 33 MPa. The method has the advantages of simple process, environment friendliness, high construction efficiency, low cost, capability of meeting the strength requirements of multi-occasion and short-time construction and the like, and is easy to achieve industrial production.
