The novel viscosity-reducing slump-retaining functional monomer comprises the following raw materials: 60 to 65 parts of unsaturated acid, 20 to 30 parts of polyol, 5 to 10 parts of hydroxyl alcohol, 2 to 8 parts of polymeric alcohol, 0.5 to 1 part of an esterification catalyst, 5-10 parts of an initiator, and 2.5 * 10 <-6> to 5 * 10 <-6> parts of a transition metal catalyst. The invention aims to provide the novel viscosity-reducing slump-retaining functional monomer which has good compatibility with HPEG and TPEG. After the monomer is added in the synthesis process of the mother liquor of the polycarboxylic acid water reducer, the viscosity reduction function of the mother liquor can be improved, and the plasticity retaining property of the mother liquor is improved.
