The invention relates to an intersection traffic flow detection and early warning system, which comprises a trunk line, a branch trunk line, a detection unit, an early warning unit and a colored road surface; wherein the detection unit comprises a radar detector, and the radar detector is arranged on the roadside of the branch trunk; the early warning unit comprises a carrier wave forced switching module and an LED information prompt screen, the carrier wave forced switching module is arranged in the radar detector, and the LED information prompt screen is arranged on the roadside of the main line and faces the traffic flow direction; and the colored pavement is arranged on the branch trunk close to the trunk line. The system has the effects of improving the safety of the arterial highway intersection, reducing the traffic accident rate and improving the traffic transportation efficiency.
