The invention relates to a preparation method of antibacterial dental restoration nano zirconium oxide powder, and the method comprises the following steps: (1) adding yttrium oxide and a soluble zinc compound into a zirconium oxychloride solution at 40-60 DEG C to form a zirconium-yttrium-zinc composite solution; (2) putting the composite solution in the step (1) into a reaction kettle, and carrying out hydrolysis reaction to obtain hydrolyzed slurry; (3) rinsing and drying the hydrolyzed slurry in the step (2) to obtain precursor powder; (4) performing high-temperature calcination treatment on the precursor powder in the step (3) to obtain calcined powder; (5) carrying out ball milling and granulation treatment on the calcined powder in the step (4) to obtain the antibacterial nano zirconium oxide powder. Three metal ions of zinc, yttrium and zirconium are hydrolyzed, dried, calcined, ball-milled and granulated to prepare the material which is good in biocompatibility and mechanical property, obvious in bactericidal effect and long in acting time.
