The invention belongs to the technical field of tamping machines. An implosion type tamping mechanism comprises a tamping hammer and a lifting seat; the tamping hammer is used for falling down to tamp the ground; the lifting seat is used for being connected with a lifting mechanism; a locking assembly used for being connected with the tamping hammer is arranged on the lower portion of the lifting seat; an explosion chamber with an opening facing the tamping hammer is arranged in the lifting seat; and the lifting seat is provided with a fuel supply assembly communicated with the explosion chamber and a detonating assembly used for igniting and detonating fuel in the explosion chamber. An implosion type tamping machine comprises the implosion type tamping mechanism and the lifting mechanism connected with the implosion type tamping mechanism. Falling of the tamping hammer can be accelerated through thrust generated by explosion of the fuel in the explosion chamber, so that the tamping hammer can have the higher falling speed at the same height, relatively large tamping impulse can be generated when the tamping hammer tamps the ground, the tamping effect is improved, and under the requirement of the same tamping force, the lifting height of the tamping hammer can be reduced and the requirement on the length of a lifting arm of the lifting mechanism is reduced.
