The invention discloses a riparian zone structure for ecological restoration of an urban river channel and a restoration method of the riparian zone structure. According to the riparian zone structure, river channel areas related to the technology comprise a deep water area, a shallow water area, a floodplain area, a revetment and a river channel side slope of the urban river channel, the riverway ecological restoration technology takes riverway habitat restoration as a core and is used as a part of a riverway ecological restoration comprehensive system, and a stable riverway ecological system and a natural landscape are recovered and formed from the four aspects of transformation of a riverway plane and section structure, control and adjustment of riverway hydrology, change of a riverway bottom matrix and introduction of fast-growing organisms, transformation of a revetment and transformation of a riverway slope. Different from a traditional engineering type riverway transformation project, the technology is mainly used for improving the function of a riparian zone serving as a habitat of aquatic, hygrophytic and terrestrial animals and plants of the riverway and restoring the biodiversity of the riverway, the ecological integrity and sustainability of the riverway can be essentially improved, and the function of a natural ecological system of the riverway can be restored.
