The invention discloses a method for excavating a foundation pit in a water-rich sand layer. The method is characterized by including the steps that step one, water leakage of an underground diaphragm wall is detected; step two, geological radar scanning is carried out, and cavities at the bottom are prevented; step three, a steel plate is blocked at a weak underground diaphragm wall joint position, and the weak position of a wall joint is prevented from spewing; step four, high-pressure jet grouting piles are adopted at the joint positions of the underground diaphragm walls for wall joint water stopping; step five, WSS grouting reinforcement is conducted on the joints of the underground diaphragm walls with risks in the excavation process; step six, a draining and pressure-reducing dewatering well is additionally arranged outside the pit; step seven, a support is erected in time, slope excavation is carried out, and a slotting and crack detection system is strictly executed; and step eight, field construction monitoring is enhanced, and foundation pit excavation is guided through monitoring data.
