The invention discloses a balancing weight for a washing machine and a preparation method thereof. The balancing weight is composed of a basic balancing weight body and an adjusting balancing weight body; a groove is formed in the middle of the top of the adjusting balancing weight body; the basic balancing weight body is installed in the groove; the basic balancing weight body and the adjusting balancing weight body are fixedly connected through a bolt; the basic balancing weight body is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight of 15 parts of slag with the specific gravity of 3.5 tons/cubic meter, 12 parts of cement serving as a binder, 5 parts of crushed scrap metal particles, 3 parts of gravel and 8 parts of carborundum; and the adjusting balancing weight body is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight of 50 parts of high-purity acrylic acid, 12 parts of dialkyl siloxane, 22 parts of sodium hydroxide, 5 parts of alkyl acrylate, 12 parts of plant starch, 3 parts of acrylonitrile, 0.3 part of potassium persulfate, 1.5 parts of chloroprene, 3 parts of vinyl fluoride and 5 parts of vinyl acetate. The balancing weight for the washing machine is obtained by assembling after molding by casting.
