The method comprises the following steps that (1), a drainage ditch is constructed, wherein the drainage ditch comprises a ditch body, ditch walls on the two sides of the ditch body and a ditch bottom; and (2), different plants are planted according to different gradients of the ditch walls, wherein when the gradient of the ditch walls is smaller than 30 degrees, vetiver grass is completely planted on the ditch walls, when the gradient of the ditch walls is larger than or equal to 30 degrees and smaller than or equal to 60 degrees, vetiver grass is planted on the lower half portions of the ditch walls, pennisetum purpureum is planted on the upper half portions of the ditch walls, and when the gradient of the ditch walls is larger than 60 degrees, pennisetum purpureum is completely planted on the ditch walls. The drainage ditch in the south subtropical red soil farming area with the thin soil layer, large soil porosity and poor water-retaining property is mainly used, the corresponding plants planted on the different gradients of the ditch walls on the two sides of the ditch and the ditch bottom are used for protecting the ditch walls and intercepting and absorbing pollutants in the ditch water body, and the concentration of the pollutants in the ditch water body is reduced while the ditch walls are prevented from collapsing or sliding so as to purify water.
