The invention discloses a red mud-based carbonized brick and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: well mixing a carbonized cementing material, red mud, stone nitrate, water, a mineral admixture and cement, molding, and then introducing carbon dioxide-containing gas for carbonization to obtain the carbonized brick. According to the invention, alkaline substances in a red mud system are carbonized to generate stable carbonate by utilizing a carbonization curing treatment technology, the problems of poor stability and the like caused by excessive alkaline substances are eliminated, and a carbonizable material is added in the carbonization curing process, so that the obtained carbonized brick obtains relatively high strength in a short period of time, and a novel carbonized brick with the compressive strength and the breaking strength meeting the standard requirements is obtained. The problem of red mud treatment is solved by utilizing carbon dioxide-containing gas, the comprehensive utilization level of resources is improved, the production cost is reduced, and the obtained product is good in durability.
