The invention discloses a waterproof structure and method for the top of a concrete side wall of an underground building in cover-excavation construction method. The waterproof structure comprises a top plate and a side wall, a construction joint is arranged between the top plate and the side wall, the construction joint is provided with a water stop belt perpendicular to the construction joint, the top plate is provided with a plurality of embedded pipes along the construction joint, end openings of the embedded pipes are aligned with the construction joint and arranged between the water stop belt and the upstream face, and concrete is poured into the embedded pipes from top to bottom to form the side wall.
