Systems and methods for making water-based hydrophobic aerogels and aerogel composites
Embodiments of the present invention provide users with systems and methods for making water-based hydrophobic aerogels and aerogel composites. The systems and methods may be performed in a faster manner than typical manners, and may be readily scalable. The manufacturing method can be used for large-scale production of water-based hydrophobic aerogels and aerogel composites with good homogeneity and consistency. Advantageously, due to the use of vacuum homogenization and mixing processes, microwave-assisted vacuum freeze-drying, the manufacturing method also has the benefit of shorter processing time to readily synthesize water-based hydrophobic aerogels.
