The preparation method of the red zirconia ceramic material comprises the following steps: weighing 48-55 parts by weight of tin oxide, 22-27 parts by weight of calcite, 15-20 parts by weight of quartz, 3-5 parts by weight of potassium dichromate, 3-4 parts by weight of boric acid and 1-2 parts by weight of zinc oxide, uniformly mixing, adding into deionized water, adding a grinding aid, and uniformly ball-milling to obtain colorant slurry; adding the zirconium oxide powder into deionized water, adding a dispersing agent, and uniformly ball-milling to obtain zirconium oxide slurry; and adding the colorant slurry into the zirconium oxide slurry, mixing, granulating, forming and sintering to obtain the red glaze zirconium oxide ceramic material. The red zirconia ceramic material disclosed by the invention is good in glossiness, stable in chemical performance, transparent and bright in color and luster, high in hardness and high in toughness.
