The invention relates to an internal curing material with high water absorption rate, which is prepared by sintering raw materials containing 65-95 parts by weight of bauxite tailings, 0-30 parts by weight of papermaking sludge particles and 0-30 parts by weight of silica fume, the invention also comprises application of the internal curing material with high water absorption rate as lightweight aggregate in mortar, the pore size distribution of the prepared internal curing material is concentrated in 100-3000nm, and the porosity can reach 39.6%. When being used for internal maintenance of mortar, the concrete shrinkage reducing agent can achieve an obvious shrinkage reducing effect only by using a small mixing amount, and meanwhile, avoids adverse effects on the strength of the mortar; according to the invention, comprehensive utilization of solid wastes is realized.
