The invention belongs to the related technical field of aluminum-based silicon carbide composite materials, and discloses an aluminum-based silicon carbide composite material and a preparation method thereof, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) curing a silicon carbide composite material green body to obtain a porous silicon carbide/carbon green body; (2) carrying out reactive sintering on the porous silicon carbide/carbon green body; (3) carrying out silicon carbide densification treatment on the porous silicon carbide green body to enable the porosity of the porous silicon carbide green body to be within a preset range so as to obtain a porous silicon carbide preform; (4) performing sol-gel interface modification on the porous silicon carbide preform; and (5) the modified porous silicon carbide prefabricated body is subjected to aluminum alloy infiltration, pores in the porous silicon carbide prefabricated body are filled with aluminum alloy liquid, and the aluminum-based silicon carbide composite material with the preset aluminum alloy volume fraction is obtained. The aluminum-based silicon carbide component with the adjustable silicon carbide-aluminum volume fraction, the controllable structural complexity and the size meeting the requirement can be obtained through the method, and wide application prospects are achieved.
