An assembly type building damping device comprises a multi-stage damping mechanism, an outer shell is arranged at the joint of a wall and a steel frame, the two ends of the outer shell are fixedly connected with the wall and the steel frame correspondingly, when the earthquake intensity reaches first preset intensity, the wall and the steel frame slightly vibrate, and due to the fact that a first elastic piece is arranged between an upper shell and a lower shell, the first elastic piece is fixed to the outer shell; any one or two slight vibrations of the wall body and the steel frame can absorb energy brought by an earthquake through the first elastic piece. When the earthquake intensity reaches second preset intensity, vibration of the wall and the steel frame is different, the amplitude of the end, fixedly connected with the steel frame, of the lower shell is increased, the first shell and the second shell are made to vibrate, and the shaft rod is driven to slide up and down between the first shell and the second shell; vibration of an earthquake acting on the steel frame is buffered, and the stability between the main body steel frame and the wall plate is improved.
