The invention relates to a construction process of a steel storage tank. The construction process comprises the following steps: constructing a tank bottom; constructing a tank wall; constructing a tank cover; erecting a scaffold; hoisting the tank wall; the tank bottom is assembled on the ground, the tank bottom is installed on a supporting leg steel structure, the tank wall and the tank cover are assembled while the tank bottom is assembled, then scaffolds are erected around the tank bottom, the tank wall is hoisted to the top of the tank bottom for welding and splicing, and the tank cover is hoisted to the top of the tank wall for splicing; and the operation is more convenient and quicker. The problem that construction of an existing storage tank is tedious and inconvenient is solved, the construction quality of the steel storage tank is improved, and the steel storage tank has the advantages of being simple in manufacturing process, few in used equipment and low in cost and is quite convenient to popularize and use in a large scale.
