The invention provides a porous sialon ceramic filter and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the technical field of ceramic products. The porous sialon ceramic material comprises a base material which is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 20-35 parts of aluminum oxide, 5-18 parts of aluminum nitride, 35-50 parts of metal silicon and 0.01-15 parts of rare earth oxide. According to the sialon ceramic material disclosed by the invention, aluminum oxide, aluminum nitride, metal silicon and rare earth oxide in a specific ratio are used as basic materials, and proper types of sintering aids are added, so that a high-temperature glass phase is formed in the sintering process of sialon ceramic, and an obvious promoting effect is achieved on the sintering process, so that the oxidation resistance and porosity of the material are greatly improved.
