The invention provides an arm support system, a control method and engineering machinery, and the arm support system comprises an arm support which comprises a hinged end part; the rotary table comprises a front hinge part and a rear hinge part which are located on the two sides of the rotation center; the two ends of the lifting connecting rod are hinged to the rear hinge part and the hinge end part respectively; the rotary driving piece is used for driving the arm frame to pivot around the hinged end part in a variable amplitude manner; and the lifting driving piece is hinged to the front hinging part and used for driving the lifting connecting rod to rotate around the rear hinging part so as to drive the hinging end part to ascend and descend between the front hinging part and the rear hinging part. According to the cantilever crane system, through cooperation of the lifting driving part, the lifting connecting rod and the rotating driving part, the material distribution height of the cantilever crane can be effectively increased while the quality is guaranteed to be unchanged, structural weight reduction and product competitiveness improvement are facilitated, and meanwhile the maximum tipping bending moment can be reduced as much as possible.
