The invention discloses a lightweight thermal shock resistant mullite-cordierite rotating tube, which is prepared by taking high-purity sintered mullite with different particle sizes as a main raw material and introducing a certain content of cordierite pre-synthesized powder. After uniform mixing and molding, in a high-temperature heat treatment process, the cordierite pre-synthesized powder is subjected to a high-temperature in-situ reaction to form a cordierite phase, and the cordierite phase and an original mullite phase form microscale combination. The multiphase material has the advantages of mullite and cordierite, namely lower volume density, lower thermal expansion coefficient and higher thermal shock resistance.
