The invention relates to a process for producing a high-strength carbonized rock-imitating material from gypsum, which comprises the following steps: producing the high-strength carbonized rock-imitating material from desulfurized gypsum or ardealite and quartz powder or quartz sand, pretreating the raw materials, mixing, molding, drying, sintering and pulverizing to obtain a matrix raw material, and carrying out compression molding and carbonization on the matrix raw material to obtain the high-strength rock-imitating material. The matrix raw material can be used as an additive component of other building materials. According to the invention, reutilization of desulfurized gypsum or ardealite is realized, carbon dioxide can be absorbed, and the purposes of energy conservation and emission reduction are realized.
