The invention discloses an ecological restoration technology for a high and steep rock slope after mining of a surface mine, which comprises the following steps: measuring slope parameters, and receiving accurate measured slope parameter information by surveying and mapping; slope surface trimming, wherein unstable rock-soil bodies of the side slope are removed through mechanical equipment, and the slope surface is leveled; slope foundation treatment is conducted, a draft or a drilling machine is adopted for hole forming, and full-hole grouting is conducted; a vegetation quilt is manufactured and installed, the vegetation quilt comprises planting soil, plant seeds and a vegetation quilt framework, the planting soil and the plant seeds are filled in the vegetation quilt framework, and the vegetation quilt is fixed to the slope surface through anchor rods; and maintenance management including an initial maintenance stage and a later maintenance management stage. The slope foundation treatment and vegetation technology is designed through a geotechnical engineering treatment method, slope protection is well achieved, meanwhile, the influence of rock stratum exposure, the large gradient, mining vibration and other problems on slope protection is reduced, and a reliable growth space is provided for vegetation carrying and planting.
