The invention mainly relates to a modified beta-alumina solid electrolyte, a composite solid electrolyte, and applications and preparation methods of the modified beta-alumina solid electrolyte and the composite solid electrolyte. The modified beta-alumina solid electrolyte is doped with one or two of magnesium oxide and calcium oxide; the modified beta-aluminum oxide solid electrolyte can also be co-sintered with other known solid electrolytes to form a composite solid electrolyte. The preparation method of the modified beta-aluminum oxide solid electrolyte comprises the step of preparing raw materials, and adding one or two of magnesium oxide and calcium oxide into the raw materials. The solid electrolyte prepared by the preparation method disclosed by the invention has the characteristic of high temperature corrosion resistance and good medium-temperature ionic conductivity, and is particularly suitable for various batteries such as various medium-temperature alkaline fuel batteries, air batteries, sodium ion batteries and the like.
