A novel light thermal insulation foam brick is prepared from the following raw materials: a novel magnesium oxychloride cementing material, composite modified foam, reinforced fibers and citric acid, and a preparation method of the novel light thermal insulation foam brick comprises the following steps: S1, mixing and stirring the accurately metered novel magnesium oxychloride cementing material, citric acid and reinforced fibers; s2, adding accurately metered composite modified foam, and mixing and stirring to prepare light magnesium oxychloride foam concrete; and S3, pouring the light magnesium oxychloride foam concrete prepared in the step S2, and curing at normal temperature to prepare the novel light heat-insulating building block. According to the product disclosed by the invention, on the premise that no portland-free cement clinker is used, the problems that the setting and hardening time is too short, the volume shrinkage is large, the waterproof performance is poor, the alkali efflorescence phenomenon easily occurs and the like when a magnesium oxychloride cementing material is applied to a traditional cement production building block are solved.
