The invention discloses an underground water monitoring well clay layering water stopping method which comprises the following steps: S1, firstly, a large-diameter drilling tool of a drilling machine is adopted to drill through a water stopping target layer from top to bottom to form a large-diameter drill hole; s2, a drop hammer is installed on a drilling machine, then clay is poured into the large-diameter drill hole, the drop hammer is lifted through the drilling machine to hammer and tamp the clay from top to bottom, a clay layer is formed, and the drop hammer is detached; s3, the casing pipe is centered and inserted into the clay layer, then a medium-caliber drilling tool of a drilling machine is adopted for directly pushing the casing pipe into the casing pipe, the clay layer is drilled through, and a clay core is taken out; s4, according to the on-site mudstone distribution condition, a drilling machine is adopted to continue drilling downwards in the center of the large-diameter drill hole to the designed hole depth, and then a well pipe is put in; and S5, clay balls are placed between the inner wall of the casing and the outer wall of the well casing, the stacking height of the clay balls is larger than that of the clay layer, and finally the casing is pulled out, and the method has the advantages of being good in water stopping effect, compact in water stopping layer structure, simple in operation step and the like.
