The invention discloses a pentose modified water reducing agent, which is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 300 to 400 parts of unsaturated polyether macromonomer, 10 to 40 parts of unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, 10 to 60 parts of pentose acid ester, 0.5 to 3 parts of chain transfer agent, 1 to 3 parts of oxidizing agent, 0.5 to 2 parts of reducing agent and 350 to 700 parts of water. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the pentose modified water reducing agent. The prepared water reducing agent can improve the flowability of a concrete mixture, inhibit the gradual slump loss of concrete and improve the wrapping property and cohesiveness of the concrete.
