The invention discloses a tuned mass damper based on the tumbler principle. The tuned mass damper comprises a rectangular base plate, a rectangular baffle, a tumbler ball and a bolt. A plurality of rectangular base plates are mutually spliced and fixed on a top floor of a building structure, four edges of each rectangular base plate are connected with rectangular baffles, every four rectangular baffles are sequentially connected and form a cuboid cavity with the connected rectangular base plates, and a plurality of tumbler balls are placed in the cuboid cavities. The tumbler ball body is in a ball shape, a cavity is formed in the tumbler ball body, the cavity is in a ball shape, and the ball center of the cavity is located over the ball center of the tumbler ball body. A threaded hole penetrating through the inner side and the outer side of the cavity is formed in the top of the tumbler ball, and the bolt is screwed into the threaded hole. According to the structure, the response of the structure under the earthquake effect is effectively reduced, the cost is low, and the influence on the structure is small.
