The invention discloses a patrol system for safety monitoring of an extra-large bridge, which comprises a patrol track, a patrol walking mechanism, a patrol equipment main body and an image acquisition module which are arranged on the side surface of a bridge body and extend in the same direction, the patrol equipment main body comprises a main body frame and a long-range image acquisition mechanism which is slidably arranged at the lower part of the main body frame and can move up and down; the close-range image acquisition mechanism is close to the bridge bottom, and the extension driving mechanism is used for driving the long-range image acquisition mechanism to lift and unfold; the bridge bottom long-range cameras can be uniformly arranged below the bridge bottom along with the extension of the crossed telescopic assembly and are used for quickly acquiring the whole image of the bridge bottom and positioning the bridge bottom close-range cameras; and the bridge bottom close-range camera is used for acquiring a close-range image of a disease suspected position after approaching the disease suspected position identified from the bridge bottom overall image. According to the invention, a suspected defect area can be quickly positioned, a close-shot image with higher definition can be obtained, and the position of the close-shot camera at the bottom of the bridge can be immediately addressed through long-shot shooting.
