The invention belongs to the technical field of heat insulation materials, and discloses an aerogel heat insulation material with an opacifying agent coating on the surface and a preparation method thereof, and the aerogel heat insulation material is characterized in that the opacifying agent coating is arranged on the surface of an aerogel composite material; wherein the opacifying agent coating is prepared from the following raw material components in parts by weight: 100 parts of an opacifying agent, 1-25 parts of a silane coupling agent, 30-70 parts of a dispersing agent and 5-15 parts of a binding agent. The aerogel heat insulation material with the opacifying agent coating on the surface is achieved by coating the opacifying agent slurry on the surface of the aerogel heat insulation material, and the heat insulation performance of the aerogel heat insulation material at the high temperature can be effectively improved. Under the condition of not changing the original production process and flow of the aerogel thermal insulation material, the opacifying agent is modified by adding the subsequent opacifying agent slurry coating process, the process is simple and controllable, the cost is low, and the method is suitable for large-scale industrial production and is suitable for aerogel thermal insulation materials with different matrixes and different types.
