The embodiment of the invention discloses a surface cleaning device and method, and the device comprises a first host which comprises a first adsorption unit and a first cleaning unit; the second host comprises a second adsorption unit and a second cleaning unit; the first end of the first connecting rod is rotationally connected with the first main machine through a first pivot; the first end of the second connecting rod is rotationally connected with the second host through a second pivot, and the second end of the first connecting rod is rotationally connected with the second end of the second connecting rod through a third pivot; the vacuum module is used for enabling the first space to generate negative pressure and/or enabling the second space to generate negative pressure; the driving module is used for driving the first cleaning unit to rotate relative to the first connecting rod and/or driving the second cleaning unit to rotate relative to the second connecting rod. The first connecting rod and the second connecting rod are arranged between the first host and the second host, so that the defect area crossing capability of the surface cleaning device can be improved.
