The plastering mortar disclosed by the invention is prepared from the following raw materials: 20 to 30 parts of aerated concrete waste, 50 to 70 parts of sand, 5 to 20 parts of gypsum, 0.2 to 0.7 part of water-retaining agent and 0.01 to 0.02 part of water reducing agent. The preparation method of the plastering mortar provided by the invention comprises the following steps: weighing the raw materials in proportion; uniformly mixing; and adding water and stirring for use. According to the present invention, the waste material utilization rate is high, the ratio of the aerated concrete waste material in the raw material can be as high as 30%, the treatment problem of the excess waste material of the aerated concrete enterprise is effectively solved, and according to the characteristics of the low-carbon cementing material, the appropriate amount of gypsum, the appropriate amount of the water-retaining agent and the appropriate amount of the water reducing agent are added to the waste material so as to make the prepared plastering mortar have characteristics of rapid coagulation and high strength.
