The invention relates to a PTC ceramic gas heating element and a preparation method thereof. The PTC ceramic gas heating element comprises a PTC ceramic chip with a microporous structure or a PTC ceramic chip with a gradient microporous structure as a substrate, and a single-sided metal electrode or a double-sided metal electrode coated on the surface of the substrate, preferably, the composition of the matrix is selected from barium titanate-based PTC ceramics or vanadium oxide-based PTC ceramics.
