The invention provides a passenger car door anti-pinch system and method. A car door executing mechanism is used for driving a car door to be opened or closed; the anti-pinch unit is used for detecting a vehicle door stepping area and transmitting a trigger signal to the vehicle door control unit when it is detected that an obstacle is located in the vehicle door stepping area; the touch edge anti-pinch module is used for detecting whether a barrier collides with the door edge of the vehicle door or not and transmitting a trigger signal to the vehicle door control unit when the barrier collides with the door edge of the vehicle door; and the vehicle door control unit is used for controlling the action of a vehicle door executing mechanism according to the received triggering signal. The problems that in the prior art, infrared monitoring has a blind area and no anti-pinch protection exists during door opening are solved.
