The invention provides an intelligent lock and a control method thereof.The intelligent lock comprises a nose print collecting device, a door lock and a controller which are installed on a door body, and the nose print collecting device is arranged outside the door body, connected with the controller and used for collecting a nose print image of a target object close to the door body and sending the nose print image to the controller; the controller is connected with the door lock and used for judging whether the nose print image is consistent with the set nose print image or not and controlling the door lock to be opened when the nose print image is consistent with the set nose print image so that the door body can be in the unlocking state. Therefore, the nose print collecting device is arranged outside the door body to collect the nose print image of the pet, the consistency of the nose print image of the pet and the nose print image of the pre-collected target pet is compared to determine whether the pet is the target pet, then the door lock is automatically opened for the target pet, the door body can be pushed to enter a room, and the pet can be automatically opened. Other pets or people are prevented from entering a room through the door body, the safety of the intelligent lock is improved, and the user experience is improved.
