The invention relates to the field of materials, in particular to a magnesite board and a preparation method thereof.The magnesite board is prepared from, by weight, 60-75 parts of caustic-burned magnesia powder, 13-20 parts of anhydrous magnesium chloride, 5-15 parts of silica fume, 3-10 parts of chopped fibers and 0.1-2 parts of modifier; the chopped fibers are a mixture of carbon fibers, low-alkali glass fibers and basalt fibers, and the mass ratio of the carbon fibers to the low-alkali glass fibers to the basalt fibers is 10: (1-3): (1-3). The board has good strength and impact resistance, can be applied to substrates of ceiling boards, fireproof boards, partition boards, acoustic boards and the like, and can also be applied to other irregular boards with certain shapes like water meter wells.
