The invention belongs to the technical field of electronic ceramic materials, and particularly relates to a nano barium titanate material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method of the nano barium titanate material comprises the following steps: (1) mixing titanium dioxide and barium carbonate in proportion to obtain a mixed raw material; wherein the average particle size of the titanium dioxide is 0.04-0.22 mu m, and the specific surface area of the titanium dioxide is 7-20 m < 2 >/g; the specific surface area of the barium carbonate is 8-20m < 2 >/g, and the difference between the specific surface area of the barium carbonate and the specific surface area of the titanium dioxide is less than or equal to 2m < (2) adding a dispersing agent into the mixed raw material, and then putting the mixed raw material into a grinding machine for sanding; and (3) drying, calcining, sanding again, and spray-drying to obtain the nano barium titanate material. The nano barium titanate powder disclosed by the invention has the advantages of small particle size (100-300nm), high crystallinity and uniform crystal grain distribution.
