The invention provides a self-resetting friction damper and a using method thereof.The self-resetting friction damper comprises a cylinder body, an extrusion buffering assembly is arranged on the inner side of the cylinder body, a resetting buffering assembly is arranged at the bottom of the cylinder body, the extrusion buffering assembly comprises a piston rod and a piston, and the piston is slidably connected into the cylinder body; the bottom of the piston rod is located on the outer side of the cylinder body. When the piston rod moves, the piston is driven to move, the piston moves to compress the disc spring on one side and stretch the disc spring on the other side, and the elastic metal rod is compressed, so that vibration acting on the piston rod is absorbed, and the piston rod is reset through counter-acting force of the disc springs and the elastic metal rod after the vibration is absorbed; when the piston rod is reset, the disc spring and the piston extrude the friction ring, vibration is further absorbed through the friction ring, counter-acting force generated when the piston rod is reset can be absorbed, and therefore the problem that the counter-acting force influences the damping effect during resetting is solved.
