The invention relates to the technical field of industrial waste residue utilization, in particular to a high-dosage water-resistant phosphogypsum building material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method of the high-dosage water-resistant phosphogypsum building material comprises the following steps: uniformly stirring phosphogypsum, nano silicon dioxide, water and a water reducing agent to prepare phosphogypsum slurry, and carrying out mold filling, curing and forming to prepare a body modified phosphogypsum building material; and obtaining a hydrophobic coating and carrying out waterproof treatment on the surface of the body modified ardealite building material to obtain the body modified ardealite building material. The hydrophobic coating comprises the following raw materials: a silane coupling agent, a solvent, ammonia water and nano titanium dioxide. The hydrophobic property, the corrosion resistance, the self-cleaning property and the antibacterial property of the ardealite building material are improved through a dual modification method, meanwhile, the mechanical property of the ardealite building material is improved, and in addition, the ardealite is high in utilization rate, more environmentally friendly and high in practical value and application prospect.
