The invention discloses a bismuth telluride composite material. The bismuth telluride composite material comprises the following raw materials: bismuth telluride nanosheets, nano-zinc oxide and graphite. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the bismuth telluride composite material, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: uniformly dispersing the bismuth telluride nanosheet, the nano zinc oxide and the graphite in water, then rapidly solidifying, freeze-drying, and carrying out vacuum hot pressed sintering to obtain the bismuth telluride composite material. The invention also discloses an application of the bismuth telluride composite material in thermoelectric materials. The bismuth telluride composite material is high in thermoelectric figure of merit and has good thermoelectric performance.
